Alder High School Main Entrance

New Reception/Main Entrance - Alder High School

The school had a need to provide a public reception and waiting area to separate the public from the main school building.
A new single storey extension has been designed linking into the existing reception allowing for a new focal point for the main entrance from the car park and a new public waiting area and reception.
To allow for greater security and workflow for reception and office staff the existing reception will be reconfigured to allow for access directly into the admin office and stable door to prevent unauthorised access.

To reduce timescales on site and reduce wastage as well as providing an exceptionally thermally efficient and airtight construction the proposal is to construct the extension using Modern methods of Construction (MMC) via Structurally Insulated Panels (SIPs).
These panels consist of rigid insulation sandwiched between 2 layers of OSB board and are transported in flat pack pre-formed format.
This reduces transportation costs and the panels are erected very quickly allowing internal fit out to be carried out in a shorter timeframe.
